Airports in New Zealand
New-Zealand

New Zealand has 5 international airports, and 26 international airports. These airports all have a fascinating history. To learn more about each airport keep reading this page, or you can read about the Australian Airports on offer.

Auckland Airport:
The history of Auckland Airport starts in 1928 when it was being used as an airfield by a local club called Auckland Aero Club. It wasn’t until 1960, when major upgrading took place to make the site the main airport of the country. It then officially opened in the year of 1966. The airport has now majorly transformed to the major hub it has become, with two terminals.

As the airport welcomes millions of passengers it is really important to book parking in advance. This ensures you get the best price and space - so you can start your journey from Auckland Airport with no stress. We recommend look at these providers; Parking Mode Auckland & Aeroparks Auckland.

Christchurch Airport:
The first recorded use of this airport can be dated back to 1936. Where it was formally called Harewood Airport and opened for commercial usage in 1940. The airport then had another major date in 1950, as they became the first international airport in all of New Zealand. After this, Christchurch Airport continued to expand and upgrade. Reaching its standard today with a new record of 6.8 million passengers in just 2018 alone.

Nelson Airport:
In 1937 the construction of Nelson Airport began. It then became the home of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. And with the following few years and introduction of the next world war, the airport was used for an air squadron. Flashforward to now, and Nelson is one of the busiest airports in the country. Welcoming almost a million passengers every year.

Wellington Airport:
Wellington Airport recently celebrated their 60th birthday. When thousands of people gathered to watch the grand opening, due to the major work put into making the airport. The airport now has an impressive standing. Being one of the biggest hubs for international travel, connecting the country with many other countries.

Wellington Airport does get busy with the number of passengers it welcomes each and every year - around 6.5 million. This is why ParkCare recommends having a look at some of our providers before you travel as this will save time, money and stress. One popular provider among travellers is Park N Depart Wellington.
